Welcome
to the Higgins House Bed and Breakfast Victorian Inn located
in downtown Sanford just 20-minutes north of Downtown Orlando.
Central Florida has quite a history and Sanford is one of
the oldest cities in the state even before downtown Orlando.
Tucked aside a brick road, across from beautiful Centennial
Park is nestled our lovely Bed and Breakfast Victorian Inn.
This Historic Queen Anne Victorian Home is listed on the National
Historic Registry circa 1894 and is conveniently located a
few short blocks away from downtown Sanford. The brick
lined, granite curbed roadway, outstanding service, gourmet
food and coffees, and world class beers and wines will commemorate
your stay as you turn back time to a culture that accented
the simple things in life. But even with simple, there
are updates and upgrades. Take our flat panel LCD HDTV
in select rooms throughout the Inn (ask for details).
Built
in 1894 for James Corcoran Higgins, the superintendent of the railroad in Sanford, the
property has been completely restored in to preserve the Victorian
Jacobean Architecture design. This 2 story B&B has cross
gables with patterned wood shingles, bay windows, turned post
and spindle work, upstairs verandah, a large parlor, unique
rooms and a beautiful courtyard, all of which is reserved
for our guests.

The
Higgins House Bed and Breakfast Victorian Inn have spent the
past four years collecting as may period specific antiques
as possible. Most of the B&B is decorated with late
1800's and early 1900 furnishings with the utmost in care
of leaving out the faux antiques that so many places now offer.
Our surreal accommodating interior features a large
parlor with a Piano and turn of the century antique furnishings
along with an elegant dining room. Both rooms are accented
with elegant fireplaces and antique decor. There's also a
cozy pub for tasting homebrew, mead, wine and other assorted
beverages. The four special guest rooms include the Golden Victorian Room, Royal Anniversary Suite, Rose Anna Wicker Room and the Owen Edward Cedar Room all of which have their own elegant style
and flare. A large deck and Victorian Gardens compliment the
backyard of the Inn and is the perfect getaway while you soak
up some of that Florida sun.
During
the week, the Higgins House offers an uptown Continental Breakfast
which includes regional small growers coffee's and outstanding
pastries from Bruno's. On weekends, a full breakfast
is prepared per chef's choice and may include our own wonderful
recipes for Belgium Waffles, Crepes, Pannekoeken (Dutch Pancakes),
eggs benedict, pancakes, omelets or other surprises.
Breakfast is also accompanies by a variety of pastries or
breads from local bakers. Let's not forget the coffee.
For those who enjoy the taste of real coffee, the Higgins
House Bed and Breakfast Victorian Inn serves only the finest
world coffee. Each week we feature select coffees
such as Sumatra, Grand Cru, Dark French Roast, Kona, Kenya and many
other varieties. We also offer quality decaf and an
enormous selection of tea, homebrew, wine and mead.
The
Parlor, the Veranda, and the courtyard play a vital role in
creating the ambiance you desire during your stay. Throughout
the day, we offer periodic surprise amenities such as fresh
baked home made cookies, espresso and pastries. We feel
that such an offering will create a special ambiance for our
visiting guests.
If
you care to relax, you are welcomed to join us in the Corcoran's'
Pub where you will find such delights as Homebrew, Micro-Brews,
a diverse selection of imports and other assorted beverages.
The very special friends of the Higgins House, the DellaSala's have been renowned homebrewers and
winemakers for almost 15 years. The Higgins House Victorian Bed and Breakfast has it's very own English Style
Pub where Steve DellaSala is known to brew once and a while. The Corcoran's Pub is named after the middle name
of James Corcoran Higgins who built in the home in 1892.
There's usually always something special flowing on tap.
Take October for instance. Throughout the month, the
Corcoran's Pub has been known to have a ghoulish beer made
with pumpkins and spices. Be forewarned, if you love
wine, Steve DellaSala is also a mead maker (honey wine).
Aside from beer, there may be some of our special mead just
waiting around somewhere.
Our guest especially love our outside porches where they can just sit back and watch the world pass by.
