Pierre's
Wine Cellar is a new find for me. It's located only
minutes away from the Higgins House Bed and Breakfast Victorian
Inn making it convenient for quests, and way to convenient
for me and my wife. What I like most about Pierre's
Wine Cellar (in addition to the selection of wines and the
great service) is the updates they send their customers via
email. Pierre travels the world for great wines and
offers incredible deals to those who register. When
he sends an email to his registered customers, it's usually
some low quantity wine that doesn't even make it on the shelf.
All you do is respond to the email, specify which wine and
the quantity, have it billed to your account, then pick it
up or have it shipped. This is too easy and is the likely
cause of my empty wallet.

store has the most extensive beer selection in the Central
Florida area. Chose from Belgium beers, French Beers,
Micro-Brew Beers, German Beers, English Beers and Scottish

of others. The only problem encountered at the Big C
is the amount of time it takes to sift through the selection
to find your favorites. Remember, as a guest of the
Higgins House, you are entitled to join is in Corcoran's
Pub where you may find many of these hidden treasures

In fact, we have been shopping there for so long, that the
owners are our personal friends. In addition to the

Wow! Yet another place that I've never seen before. Imagine a wine bar that has hundreds of bottles of wine open at the same time. Well, you don't have to; it's a reality. The secret is row upon row of wines in a type of vending machine. You purchase a Wine Room credit card, go up to the wine you wish to try, place in the card, select the amount you'd like, take a comfortable seat somewhere in the very large sitting area, and sip away. The best thing is that you can do this over and over again (provided you're not the driver). The Wine Room has just about any style you can imagine (except South African wines) at various prices from $1 per taste to $12 per taste. The way I look at it is where else can you try a $100 bottle of wine without paying for the entire bottle? Located in downtown Winter Park, you are only walking distance away from so many other cool places including additional winebars such as Eola Wine Company, each with their own unique charm. Definitely worth the visit.

The
Fiddler's Green has a great history in Winter Park, at least
for me. During my college years, I worked in the general
area of what was then called, "The Prince of Whales."
This pub was the first place I had a great beer on tap and
it is in fact, the very place that started my life long journey
to seek the ultimate beer. After changing over to the
Fiddler's Green, the selection of beers has not dwindled and
the food selection increased. This is the perfect English/Irish
Pub and is located in Historic Winter Park.

I was recently made aware of Cavallari Gourmet from our friends at Bruno's Gourmet Kitchen. Upon my first visit I was left speechless as I have finally found what I've been missing since my days up north. Finally a place that makes their own sausages including my all time favorite and rare to find, Cheese and Parley. Cavallari's offers a wide range of meats, fresh seafood, Boarshead cold cuts, Italian cookies, wine, beer, fresh pastas including Ravioli, Gnocchi and Fettuccini, cheese, general high quality grocery items, homemade salads, pastries, homemade prepared dinners such as Lasagna, Stuffed Peppers and Pasta dishes, shish-kabobs, stuffed chicken and so much more it takes my breath away. And get this, the prices are competitive to the big grocery stores! Cavallari's has become my staple diet for grilling and baking fine foods and once you visit them, your life will change for the better too.

My wife
and I have an on going joke by changing the name of this groceries
store to "whole paycheck." It's one of the
few places I can think of that you can walk out of the store
with only two bags of groceries and be out $90. But
it's not the price of the store that causes this, it's just
the addiction we have to the quality foods/beers/wines/coffees
they offer. The Higgins House Bed and Breakfast Victorian
